Earlier this year I had the opportunity to discuss palliative care with Sonia Booth on Cliff Central. It formed part of a series of podcasts on the cancer journey, supported by Discovery. We discussed what palliative care means, what is specifically provided and by whom. One sticky point is always when is palliative care appropriate. We try to debunk the myth that palliative care is the same as end-of-life care. Some of these questions are addressed in the FAQ section http://www.enfold.me/about-faq/
Sonia is an inspiring woman with a story of her own to tell and it was a privilege to speak to her. I was also joined by my dear palliative care colleague from Joburg, Dr Nosisa Matsiliza and Dr Sandile Mhlongo from Discovery in the conversation. Dr Matsiliza has the best kind of radio-voice, soothing and reassuring. If Discovery plans to walk the walk they talk, things are looking up.
